Bell
Witch • by M.V. Ingram
Paperback
$15.00 + $3.00 shipping/handling
The Tennessee legend of the Bell Witch has been internationally
known for over 150 years and has been referred to as "America's
Greatest Ghost Story". It has been the subject of movies, plays
and many books over the years, but this is the first book ever written
on this amazing poltergeist phenomenon, originally published in 1894.
It was written by newspaper publisher and friend of the Bell family
M.V. Ingram, who took a first-hand family account entitled "Our Family
Trouble" (which remained unpublished at the request of the family
until the last of the first-hand family witnesses passed away), and
added to it interviews with other locals who had witnessed the strange
events. This book is the original, hard-to-find, real deal folks. |

In
The Wake of Fading Days • by Robert Ashley Logue
Hardbound
$19.99 + $4.00 shipping/handling
Published by
Cold Tree Press, this 204 page brings poems from clear mountain
air and seedy, smoke-filled dives; from a childhood between the
church pews, from dead-end jobs and one-night stands. These poems
are a travelogue, the earliest penned by a naive and romantic
adolescent, the latter by a middle-aged husband and father. Along
the way, odes to wayward sons and lost daughters bump up against
abstract speculations on spirituality, while late-night regrets
and wistful reveries mingle with paeons to lust and indulgence
- all driven by a restless and elusive yearning and ultimately
seasoned with hope. |

Hendersonville
Song Co. • On The Road Alone
cd $10.00
- © 2005 Stout Projex/ODR Music (languid/progressive folk)
This CD is an absolutely beautiful mix of unique melodies, engaging original lyrics, and top-notch musicality. Oscar Rice's guitar playing is flawless soulful acoustic perfection, and Rebecca Stout's vocals are simply outstanding. The arrangements are sparse, the sound is very real, and the instrumentation is pleasantly surprising. This is a breath of fresh air in a stale musical world. Hendersonville Song Company is fantastic! |

The
Shakers • Living In The Shadow Of A Spirit
cassette $4.99
Extremely rare out-of-print
item-- this 1988 four-song EP by Nashville alt-folk pioneers The Shakers
revolves entirely around the saga
of the Bell Witch, known widely as "America's Greatest Ghost Story".
The Shakers were well-suited for this project as they were native to the
same middle Tennessee region where the haunting took place. This record received
widespread airplay on college radio in the late 1980's and the record's "single", "The
Healing Hymn" (whose lyrics are attributed to the spirit via books on
the subject) was later included on a Rhino Records compilation
of the best of 1980's folk music (Troubadors of Folk: Singer-Songwriters
of the 1980's).
This record was never released on CD and vinyl copies fetch $30
or more. This is a cassette copy, still in the shrink-wrap, never-played.
Instrumentation
is acoustic guitar, mandolin, fiddle and female soprano. Beautifully
melodic and spooky. If you are a collector of rare, unusual Americana music
or of
paranormal/supernatural ephemera, this item is a must! |
